Construction Progress for the First Quarter of 2022 – Phase Two Completed

I realized something this week.

ZAH is operational.

There wasn't a ribbon cutting.

There wasn't a launch meeting.

There wasn't even a particular moment when someone said, "Okay, we're live."

We were too busy working.

And maybe that's exactly how it should happen.

For months I've been writing here about AI, organizational design, learning, governance, and what businesses might look like when AI becomes something more than another tool employees use.

Somewhere along the way, we stopped just designing that company.

We started operating it.

There are still enormous amounts of work ahead.

There are things we're testing.

Things we're learning.

Things we're getting wrong.

And quite a few things we're not ready to talk about yet.

But the question has changed.

It's no longer:

Could we build an AI-native company?

Now we're beginning to ask:

What happens when you actually operate one?

I suspect that's going to give me quite a bit to write about.
